Land for Development Programme - Forum
|
|
In cooperation with the United Nations of Geneva, UNECE – United Nations Economic Commission for Europe – Tecnoborsa promotes and organises the annual European Summit on Real Estate Economy, with over 100 participants including foreign countries, government organizations, nongovernmental organizations, research institutes, international credit institutes and private bodies.
This important international event focuses in particular on the development of the real estate market in Central-Eastern Europe. With its Millennium Declaration in 2001 the UN took action to fill the economic and social gaps in that area through the launching of the Land For Development Programme (LFDP), where land is understood as the territory in a broad sense and all its correlated implications: agricultural development, real estate market development, the establishing of valuation standards, the resolving of disputes.
Data is gathered annually for the Summit that is used to prepare a comparative analysis of the countries being examined, the so-called Transition Economies, the countries in the former ComeCom area which are gradually changing to a market economy, where territorial management is of fundamental importance.
In many of these countries, despite the recent economic and social development, the poverty level and inequality have increased: in order to solve these problems, it is necessary to guarantee the people access to a non-discriminatory market and a system that protects property rights.
Participants at the annual Summit include government representatives, partners from the private sector, international bodies, development banks, real estate professionals, and world-famous economists, including Hernando De Soto.
